SYNOPSIS:

International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic and political achievements of women along with being a call to action for women’s equality.

Celebrate and recognise IWD at Dendy Cinemas Coorparoo and Portside with a very special one-off screening of the powerful Australian documentary STRONG FEMALE LEAD on Wednesday, March 8th at 7pm.

One in three Australian women experience discrimination or harassment in the workplace. Australia’s first and only female prime minister, Julia Gillard, was one of them. STRONG FEMALE LEAD explores themes of sexism, power and misogyny while examining the issue of prejudice against women in leadership and its ongoing impact on female participation in parliament and society.

Dendy also has a whole month of female-centric films this March to celebrate women including Women Talking releasing February 16; All The Beauty and The Bloodshed and Till both releasing March 9 and Portrait of the Queen on March 18. Our Dendy Arts programme will be screening National Theatre Live: The Crucible on March 4, 5 & 8 along with Exhibition on Screen – Mary Cassatt: Painting the Modern Women on March 8, 11 & 12.

Thanks to Dendy Brisbane
