SYNOPSIS:

Cecilia (Sissy) and Emma were tween-age BFFs who were going to grow old together and never let anything come between them. That is, until Emma’s new friend Alex did just that. When Cecilia became the target of Alex’s bullying, her act of self-defense left Alex horrifically wounded and forced Cecilia and Emma apart. Twelve years later, Cecilia is a successful social media influencer living the dream of an independent, modern millennial woman… until she runs into Emma for the first time in over a decade and her world is turned upside down. Emma invites Cecilia away on her hen’s weekend at a remote cabin in the mountains, much to the dismay of maid of honour Alex, whose scarred face has only further cemented her grudge against ‘Sissy the sissy’ after all these years. Alex proceeds to make Cecilia’s weekend a living hell – until Cecilia snaps. Unnervingly savage, SISSY is a satirical look at millennial self-victimisation in the social media age.

She must decide between hope and truth, undeterred by the watchful eye of righteous neighbours.

Releasing to Digital, DVD and Blu-Ray on October 19

SYNOPSIS:

Recently discovered and restored 46 years after its completion, George A. Romero’s The Amusement Park stars MARTIN’s Lincoln Maazel as an elderly man who finds himself disoriented and increasingly isolated as the pains, tragedies, and humiliations of aging in America are manifested through roller coasters and chaotic crowds. Commissioned by the Lutheran Society, the film is perhaps Romero’s wildest and most imaginative movie– an allegory about the nightmarish realities of growing older, and an alluring snapshot of the filmmaker’s early artistic capacity and style.

SYNOPSIS:

After being dumped, Genie embarks on a 12 week challenge to improve her health and well-being. This quest pushes her to be faced with dodgy diets, quacky influencers, toxic friends and swamp juice. The lines between healthy and unhealthy begin to blur. Loved ones become concerned, but Genie’s sidekick always has an excuse ready. To save herself, Genie must uncover the true meaning of health, and cut ties with a very toxic friend. This absurd, dramatic comedy explores the effects of diet and influencer culture on young people. Sprinkled throughout are goofy songs and balanced with verbatim statements from people who have been affected by diet and wellness culture. Formerly Bourke & Heather, Minerva TheatreCo.are passionate about discussing uncomfy things through comedy. Premiering at the 2022 Anywhere Festival, Detox was critically acclaimed-many audience members urged Minerva to spread Detox’s message far and wide. REVIEW:

When I first saw the trailer of this movie, I thought it would just be a typical and by the books thriller film. Safe to say that I was wrong.

The movie was able to keep me interested in general as the plot was immersive and really well put together. The film manages to be unpredictable at times and from the get-go it is creating a very tense and bittersweet ambience. It has been such a long time since a movie made me feel genuinely anxious and worried about characters.

The cinematography was amazing. This movie was shot in the region of Grenoble, a French city surrounded by mountains and they really used the landscapes to their advantage to create a beautiful and colourful movie. The scenery is sometimes breathtaking. Even indoors scenes were amazing.

The acting is great. From small appearance to main character, every actor gives a believable and strong performance.

Unfortunately the movie gets a bit tedious in the last 20 to 30 minutes with less rhythm and believable dialogues to me.

It is still an amazing thriller that keeps you gripped and intrigued for its vast majority. If the last 20 to 30 minutes were handled in a slightly better way, this film would be on point.
